Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Another one that shows the full framing of this cool little stage. You are right Rob, a few bodies would totally balance out the acoustics. Get out your atlas and look at the tip of the Garden Peninsula. It's not near anything. It was a company town from after the Civil War until about 1890. They made pig iron from the iron mines in the U.P. and used the vast resource of hardwoods to make the charcoal to run the furnace. Hardy people lived and worked under these conditions. It still has several buildings to visit...workers cabin, hotel, machine shop, schoolhouse, doctors office, the huge furnaces, superindant's house, and the town hall. It would be a fabulous place for a gathering if it were not so off the beaten path. It is also a State Park now. I slipped into a little fantasy about Joel Sweeney and his solo performances as I played this one made famous by him. You always read about the tapping of a soloist on a wood platform. Quite effective.
