Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Briggs'-Old Johnny Boker and Miss Lucy Long

From the Briggs' Banjo Instructor of 1855, illustrating banjo arrangements of tunes sung in the Minstrel days. The thumb string is adapted for rhythmic fill in between the strong melody notes. (Part of an effort to record all the Briggs' material, less the vocal pieces. There were several I had missed.)
