What a very pretty song!  And sweet Nelson now lies under the stone.  (Words remind me a lot of "When You and I Were Young, Maggie".)

Where did you find Mr. Kneass?
Comment by Carl Anderton on May 15, 2011 at 10:28pm
Nelson Kneass is buried in Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe, Mo.  I researched him and discovered that he died while on tour with a theatrical troupe in 1868 in Missouri.  Chillicothe is about 80 miles NE of me so I decided to go see him.  I took my Dad, who turns 90 this year.  It was quite interesting.

BTW, Greg's g-g grandfather, Obadiah Adams, who played banjo for Kneass, is buried there, too. His headstone can be seen directly behind Kneass's.

That is fascinating and brilliant, Carl - musically and historically.

Thank you, Liz, that's nice of you to say.  Cemeteries are great-- a free history fix all around us.

I wish I was a better singer.  I've been singing tenor in church choir since last November.  It's made me realize how a good singer sings much like a good instrumentalist plays-- with lots of technique that comes from years of diligent practice.
