That sounded really good, great demonstration on bone accompaniment, slow so I could herar the rhythm patterns, and  John great advice and in that order... I have realized how important it is to be well acquainted with the music you wish to play. when you have it down its effortless to play it in front of others,...get a set of songs and practice practice practice until its logged to memory and have fun :)

Yes, thanks to Greg for agreeing to join us and carrying us through.  Though I doubt Jared would've had any trouble with tempo!   And thanks for all the advice and encouraging comments. I'm going to try playing with a metronome.

I was mostly oblivious to everything except the fact that my fingers were doing something independent of what they otherwise knew so well.  When I felt I had gained a little control over them, I tried picking up the tempo to what I thought it should be.   So my  question is, when that happens, is it best to keep the same tempo, rather than picking/perking it up in the middle ?  When playing with my old time groups, I understand it's best to follow the fiddle.

oh no, I was probably rushing! Although we did decide to speed up at the end, but I was frazzled by the bridge pop, I'm sure!

The tempo increase seemed pre-planned to me.

Ha! I don't remember anything about my presentation, either. It's as though I was asleep!

Ah! Yes!  Now I remember you talking about Rhiannon's presentation at the barn... ;o}

It was all I could do to remember to count repeats...!

Al, your presentation went over fine.. and your brain was connected to your mouth.
