Thanks for the warm welcome to this forum. It does look very interesting, so I'll spend some time investigating and getting to know about it and the various members.
Tim's reply to "Briggs' last moments" and his new discussion "Gigs and Presentations" aren't appearing as they should. (see the recent exchanges between Tim and me).
thanks for the welcome to the forum. i have been playing minstel banjo for about 7 months. and i am looking forward to talking w/ you guys to learn one heck of a lot from the people who really mastered this awesome instrument.
That sounds good. Like i have been learning off of Bob Flesher's Books and its very tough to get other tunes b/c i am not that talented yet to start making my own tabs.
Thanks, John. It's nice to see familiar faces, such as yours, from the Early Banjo Gatherings. - Mike

Hi John,
Thank you for the welcome.
You are the one who scarfed up all the high end rib bones at my online store. (Bone Dry Musical Instrument Co.) Hope they're rattlin' okay for you. --Scott
I started the banjo in late July and finished it yesterday, putting in an hour here and an hour there late at night when I had the time and energy. It was a lot of fun.
I tried that before (and again, since your message came); there's no field or button after Photo on that page. I can change my email address, password, date of birth, and a couple of things down at the bottom of My Page, having to do with links.

The link to the main Ning site worked. The Profile page on this (Minstrel Banjo) site doesn't, for the avatar issues. I think that's a glitch -- looks to me as if most of the new members here appear with no photo.
Just befriending the guys I know, from AEBG or the old forum --

I am with the Liberty Hall Fifes and Drums. We were at the High Tide Gettysburg event. We only play on calfskin heads without muffles for that true authentic sound. Have you heard us before?

There seems to be some kind of problem.
Tim's reply to "Briggs' last moments" and his new discussion "Gigs and Presentations" aren't appearing as they should. (see the recent exchanges between Tim and me).
Is Ning having problems?

It WAS exciting to put the strings on and hear that first note. Now I have to get it in tune.
I had never done any wood bending before this project, but I have been woodworking with antique handtools and studying traditional methods of woodworking for almost ten years, so I had a good idea of what to do. I have more pictures from the whole process here:

Actually, right after I joined, I went to visit my brother in Naperville for a week. Guess I was more or less in your neighborhood. (Brrr.)
