The kit is well made, the instructions are clear and easy to understand and follow. Thanks Bell Banjos! I've never applied a shellac/french polish finish before and it is a bit tricky but a nice result for my first try. Dye and alcohol stain was new for me as well... a bit hard to control but the practice pieces paid off before I applied the stain to the banjo. Still, a great experience and a nice instrument.

Very handsome!  Are those incised or pinstriped lines going around the outside of the pot?

Thank you all for the kind words.  Those lines you see going around the pot are in fact the grain lines in the wood.  I was toying with the idea of adding a red stripe around the pot accented with gold but I thought the grain looked real nice and the stripe would be guilding the lily.

Nice job on the kit, Dave. It'll be fun playing it at the next get-together. You gotta watch Tim, though, he's a banjo grabber. The rim is Ash, it has a nice grain, A little tougher to work with but better looking (than oak) and ash puts a 'bite' in the sound.
