Here's the "finished" Bell Banjo Kit I completed today. I used a dye in alcohol stain and amber shellac finish. I added a wax coating to protect the finish. The strings are still stretching but it sounds great!

Very handsome! Are those incised or pinstriped lines going around the outside of the pot?
Thank you all for the kind words. Those lines you see going around the pot are in fact the grain lines in the wood. I was toying with the idea of adding a red stripe around the pot accented with gold but I thought the grain looked real nice and the stripe would be guilding the lily.
Nice job on the kit, Dave. It'll be fun playing it at the next get-together. You gotta watch Tim, though, he's a banjo grabber. The rim is Ash, it has a nice grain, A little tougher to work with but better looking (than oak) and ash puts a 'bite' in the sound.
