One of our cats was not nearly so cute when she did the same thing — after the skin was tacked on.

Some cats are better about these kinds of things than others.  I've nicknamed one of ours "D string."  My daughter doesn't think it's funny...

Well must admit, I don't think mine would have heard me calling them in if they had had that name .... While I am here, must mention that the penny has finally dropped (  the mist has cleared ) re tuning. After reading one of your posts, I dug out my other banjo, tuned it to eAEG#B and just read the music as if I were playing my banjo that is tuned to gCGBD. I find that  the lower tuning suits my voice range better than the higher one....and if the music calls for the 4th string to be tuned to D in the higher tuning  then in the lower tuning I tune the 4th to B. I am also managing to " read the dots" now, albeit slowly from only being able to read TAB when I first joined Minstrel ( and Classic ).
