The tail piece that I treated with "rusty water", linseed oil and one light coat of shellac. Added some neat little details to it for fun :)

Thanks Strumelia and Nicholas! Yep, it was mine from a genuine Bell and Son kit! Lots of fun to make and a really awesome feeling to hear it once completed.
This is really beautiful! Would you be willing to make something similar for sale? I am looking for an ebony tailpiece for my old banjo.
HI Sarah, I'd be willing to carve a tailpiece and sell it. I'd just need the tailpiece. Terry Bell made mine, as it came with the kit he sells. Maybe I should consider getting in the business of making the tailpiece AND carving them? hmmmm
