The banjo in this has a sound hole as though it were made of wood. I see this in many pictures. It leads me to believe that the illustrator had no idea what a banjo was supposed to look like...
Plus, people often look like they're punching the tambourine in these old prints and photos. Makes me think the skins might have been pretty heavy.
Ahahahaha I almost didn't see the mini Buckley. My bell tambo can take a punch.
We re-made our Bell banjo. We changed out the chimes to some antique ones, and had to replace the head. We used a standard banjo goat skin head, and it works well. We do punch the tambo when we play it, punching makes sense when you are dealing with a larger minstrel style tambourine.
I think the small fiddler is supposed to be Japanese Tommy.
