Yes Dan'l, I've sold a couple of these and it does come in a kit. The original had other small MOP inlays in the middle of the neck. I only do stars.

Hi Will. The sound is great. Very 'present', not hollow, very clear, not muddy. It's a 27 inch scale (tight and loud) like the bigger Bouchers, but the bridge is further back, making the neck a little shorter and very comfortable. The original had a mother of pearl star and that's how I usually do them. This customer wanted a brass one. I have a lot of fun playing these, their sound is right "now." Sadly I have to put them in a box and send them away forever.  :(

One of the best features of this banjo is that it gives you the ability to hit the 4th fret note in tune, always. See the little 'bump' just before the big bump where the 5th peg is? Just touch your pinky (or ring finger) down on that little bump and you're right in tune. That, and the fact that it's a snappy sounding banjo makes it just plain fun. The original was made by Frank Brawley, Co. G, 6th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry in 1862.
