Here I am at a "reenactment" at Eckley Miners' Village, PA. I typically pack light, this time was no exception. While I didn't march in, I made it easy to carry in then take down and leave when the time came. Lots of fun! It got humid over night so standing a few steps from the fire took care of the head in no time.

That's wonderful! Great photo, and good to know that the head was easily remedied near the campfire.
Wonderful photo. Dang nice banjer, too!
The heat tightens the drum removes moisture from the calf skin. I've often said that banjos are like vampires. You don't see them in the daytime very often. They come out at night and raise a ruckus.
Great picture Silas, when was that taken?
That's not me. I've got a few more years on me than Matthew has. I like the setup. Not much there. And there's a banjo. The photo earns a Silas campaigner seal of approval.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! Nicholas, it was taken just this past weekend :) I was in the civilian area of the event helping with fire wood and other odd jobs, including playing the banjo.
Terry - everyone loved the look of the banjo! I described the finishing process a few times over the weekend.
Hey Matt Playing the banjo is the best odd job!!! Fun, huh? People are just enthralled with banjos, the older the better. Every household should have one!
I think my household needs at least two, eventually :D
Every baby should have a little banjo placed in its hand instead of a rattle. :)
Lots of Laughs...I was gonna say that seems like a younger picture of Silas...read the fine print right. Hey Matt that really looks good. And yes every house needs a banjo, and yep the older the better. I swear there like rabbits I already have 6, Just finished cleaning and setting up my Lyon and Healy. I wonder why it took me this long to get into it. good stuff.
