James--
Please tell us about your banjo. I've never seen or even imagined one that small.--Rob Morrison
Hi Rob,
I live on the Virginia-Carolina border. A neighbor of mine owns the banjo.
It comes from an old home in Halifax County but the living desendants do not know its history.
The banjo has a walnut neck, maple rim and most likely the original skin head.
I am sure that it was once a cherished possession but is now just a relic of simpler times and days long gone.
Woud it not be a wonderful if the child that first held it could come back and play for us a little tune?
James--
Thanks for sharing that with us. It seems somehow odd to me that there are oodles of smaller sized violins for little hands, but that is the first truly miniature banjo I ever remember seeing, excepting, of course, banjo ukes, which aren't really miniature afterall, but full sized.--Rob Morrison
I have some ancestors from that county (and Pittsylvania next door). Nice to see their toys.
