Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Hey gang, I redid my website again, hopefully to improve the e-commerce part of it. I am using some software that helps in the organization of CD and book sales. If you get a chance, cruise through and let me know how it navigates....in particular the page where the links take you to the e-commerce store.

Not 100%, but much of it is in place.

Hi Tim -- On your site I tried to find your latest Gourd Banjo Music.  It took a little while, but I found it after finding the "categories" on the right hand side of the page. However if I didn't know what I was looking for, I might not have found it...  The "Early Banjo CD Collection", on the other hand, is very easy to find as it pops right up.

Thanks Paul...good feedback. I was concerned that featuring too many on the front page would clutter it up, but perhaps not.

I put some product on the main page....I like that I can now so neatly list all the titles of tunes...and offer discounts on buying.

My own general preference is for seeing everything from one category on one page, not having to look for stuff elsewhere in various locations.  I think it's ok to have the written book scan pdfs in a separate place, but I like to see all CDs, all CD bundled sets, and all CD/book sets all listed on one single page for sale, and a way to 'add to cart' right there.  Then if you click on a link next to each listed item that says maybe "details", that'll take you to a separate page with detailed info on that item.   Just my preference.   :)

Tim, at the top of the two pages  under the "Categories" section-  the heading appears as "

Top :: Books ::

and

Top :: Early-Banjo-Recordings ::

Also, when I go to each page of those two categories, it confuses me whether you are selling the gourd book separately from the gourd CD recording.... each for $10?...or selling the set for $10?   Since they share the same picture, the same price, and much the same name,  many people will not understand whether they are buying both, or just a book, or just a CD...?   I'm confused by it myself- and I own them both!    ;)

Another related confusion is that for example the "Early banjo Primer" is listed under books. The first sentence starts with "This book..."  and ends with "It has a CD to hear all the examples, as well as several supplementary tunes at the end."   I know you might think this is silly, but- you should probably say "It includes a CD..." so that people understand clearly that they are getting a book/CD set for the single price.
So this begs the question of why is the Early banjo Primer book/cd set listed under Books, yet the Gourd book/cd set is listed both under books and under recordings, seemingly sold separately...?Not trying to nit-pick...just hopefully giving feedback that you wanted.
I love having all your books and recordings!   They've been both very helpful and enjoyable.    :)

P.S. all that said... I am not having the image rendering issues Dan'l is speaking of.  I'm on Win 7, Firefox, desktop.

Yes -- I had the same confusion about the Gourd CD and the accompanying book.  Also is it still possible to pay thru PayPal, or is it necessary to set up another account?

Thank you all. Those are good observations and comments. I have to work within the confines of the site. It does not come with it, but I hope to get a grid layout for the main page. I'm uncertain about that gourd project...may not fill it again after this run is done. Still thinking on it and getting feedback.

That site is all paypal.

Looks good, I didn't have any problems navigating around it.

But, where did the guy in the Suit go ????
