Hi Roberta! I got this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ECQ1HO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_...
It's not quite as primitive/period looking as some of the white canvas ones I've seen, but it's way sturdier, is 17" high for sitting, and best of all the seat is a little wider for lady-sized hips. It's real nice wood and weighs like 7 lbs.
The green seat fabric is technically not cotton canvas, it's polyester, but it 'looks like' green canvas.
Various buyers had trouble assembling it, mostly because the little Allen wrenches provided are too dinky for the massive screws. My husband used his drill with an Allen bit to drive in the screws and had no trouble. He said he was impressed with how sturdy this stool was, and the materials used.
I have wide sit-bones/hips, and it's totally comfortable to sit on. I wish it weighed a tad less, but still it's lighter than our rickety old wooden camp folding chairs.
Hey, Thanks Strumella, Ok I think I can do this. I like the height. I have a drill...will look to see if I have an Allen bit...shouldn't be too hard to find, if I don't. Can use the seat width for comfort:-). Have been asked to portray a laundress in a jamboree in October and need seating for my banjo playing. This is a comfortable sturdy wide folding stool for banjo playing!
- btw, my husband removed the very nice brass plate with the manufacturer's name on it. ;)
You could add a leather strap to the folded stool to sling around your shoulder for carrying, I suppose.
Be sure to read the customer comments on Amazon for tips on putting it together.
Oh, I intended to remove the label:-) Will look into a strap...for future.
There is a special group rate available at the Appomattox Inn that David Wooldridge just secured for us if you want to check into that. It's about $30 per night cheaper than the regular rate. Just tell them you are with the Banjo Gathering at the Courthouse.
Try Joel Sweeney and the Banjo Festival. Tll them its for the weekend event at the Courthouse and the contact person is David Wooldridge.
I spoke with the sales rep and she is not aware of any group rates for the park as of yet. David might want to call. In any event, I can't get out of my Super8 reservations anyway so I'll be there with Tom.
I'm trying to phone the App.Inn and can't get through yet. But yes, I wanted to know of the special discount and what it would then cost. Dave please confirm with them about the 'deal'? With a discount it might be worthwhile for me to switch from my B&B, but I'd need to know pretty soon.
