Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

So, it was a toss up between the minstrel site and the classic banjo site for this one. It's an odd piece, full of surprises, and seems to be made up of four different 'jigs'.

Way good Rob! Yes, one of those "crossover" pieces. Where's #5?

Doh! I never turned the page over! How stupid of me. LOL. Back to the drawing board...

Ah, the plot thickens...

No. 5 over the page is in a different tuning...so what we have is a collection of five unconnected 'jigs'. So I will leave it as is...thankfully.

Hey Rob...wanna do a mini "tune of the week" thing with #5? You do fingerstyle, I'll stroke it?

Sure. Let's do it today.

Very interesting piece, #5!

By the way, did anyone notice Joe Morley's 'A Banjo Oddity' making an early appearence in the video? There are a few bars here and there which are very similar.

Really well done. I took another look at this. I am approaching "S" in my Buckley March, and found these most unusual. You played them well. I won't be too different...just adding Stroke sections, and allowing for a little fretless loosness.

So many dramatic possibilities in early banjo music. You rock Rob!

Great playing Rob! I guess Spalding didn't know the word "suite".
