Joel...see what I mean about that second inversion minor chord? Might sound different if tuned up to "E" Rice tunung. Might try that. Any, there is that quircky sound.
I was looking pretty close, and I think I have played all the Banjo Style tunes in the Analyitical. The misc. section does have a lot of nice ones too...ones that I would think would be in the Banjo Style Section.
You're right...it doesn't seem to be heading anywhere. Kind of a kitchen sink tune of Stroke technique with highlights of his 32nd note glide lick he used so often in the later years. The chord E G# C# still feels weird...not sure what his intent was..."E" harmony (6th chord) or a C# minor chord? Anyway, it creates tension.
But then again, I listed the title incorrectly. It is "Hampton Medley. Characteristic". So, I guess it is just a medley of licks. What is "Hampton" about??
Nice work Tim! Characteristic was their way of saying "like African american's would play. In other words Characteristic of black people.

I'm glad you guys said something. The fisrt time I heard that tune I thought I came in at the wrong place or something and I couldn't figure out the melody. After the second listening I still wasn't any closer.--Rob Morrison
