Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I got this version from the Dan Emmett manuscript. Like many of the pieces left by him, it is unclear as to what instrument it was intended for. Many of his are adapted to banjo, but most are suited for fiddle. This is one best done by the fiddle, as can be seen by the Carolina Chocolate Drops, but after hearing them do it with the rhythm and haunting sound of the fiddle, I couldn't help but want to try it. Perhaps another time with rhythm and a fiddle player also. Any way, here it is...as written in Emmett's manuscript.

That definitely seems to be welling up from the primal depths of somewhere or other - very cool.
