I find it intriguing to imagine our hero sitting in the audience at opera houses NYC, listening to this "music of the spheres" then going home and arranging them for the banjo and piano.  Al Baur said he was the first banjo player to do this.  He arranged several Gilbert and Sullivan pieces; often their new operettas had first runs in NYC or concurrent opening runs with London.  And our boy was right there soaking up all this immortal music.  Fabulous.
