Early American Gourd Banjo and Brazilian Berimbau
I met Berimbau player Alex Followill today at Durham's Leigh Farm Historic Site's grand opening and we had a little spontaneous music together. In a way, these instruments are distant cousins, both coming from African prototypes but developing, one in the U.S and one in Brazil, into in their own unique forms.
