I blogged my way through Briggs' and Rice as I was recording them. Time to settle down and attack the Buckley 1860. My car car is out of commission, it's getting cold, I have a nice banjo....so here I go. Front to back...the instrumentals. It's a chance to comment on them as i go, with remarks about stroke or fingerstyle choices, and wrong note included in score. No need to respond if you don't don't want to, but this will go on for a while. As I do them, they will be for sale on my music site.

What about Vol. 2 of the Rice 1858?
Those are the vocal tunes.......maybe.
They have some complicated counterpoint going on.
Ah. Looking forward to the Buckley. Thanks.
Ha....do you see the difficulties right away? Some misprints.....look at Bill Newcomb's Jig and then Leverett Jig. This yime around, I am doing more fingerstyle with tunes also.
Hmmm... first line of both almost the same...
Exactly the same. Obvioulsy, it is not part of Levertt. SO.....Levae it out. This is one of those choices where common sense must prevail. The weird part is....how far do you take it. There are others in this (and others) where it is just a note or 2...or a misaligned phrase. I'll do it, but put up the information as I blog it.
exactly the same except for 5th measure -- just one note...
Even weider...a misprint of the misprint. Players...BEWARE!!
Out of curiosity, if you play the Leverett exactly as printed (with first line) does the first line sound obviously out of place?
