"I had a similar problem with one of my banjos. I wet the area down and stitched up the tear with artificial sinew. (waxed linen I use to sew leather bags). And let it dry. Worked well for quite awhile. Not much change in sound. Friends…"

"Not sure of the edge or space you are dealing with. I had torn a skin on one banjo, wetted it and used artificial sinew to stitch up the tear. Played it for a long while before I finally replaced the head. Just a thought."

Finally had the time over the holidays to finish one of Terry Bell's Boucher Banjo Kits. I may not be as fine a wood worker or finisher as Terry, but I think it did turn out nicely. And it plays like a dream. Anyone that sees or hears it is quite impressed. …
