Thimble Wear
This is my favorite thimble. I've been using it for a number of years. You can see the wear. Originally it was symmetric. (If it looks like the wear is on the wrong side it is because I'm left handed.) It looks to be about the same angle as Tim was seeing in his video.

Playing with the middle finger is not that uncommon. I agree, Carl's strike is a little different, almost predatory, and is very effective.
