All the remaining original decorative inlay on the body was black, as was the Brass work. I spent hours cleaning it all off carefully and glueing back any loose (and there was a lot) scraps of the original inlay. The body is bent oak, and inlay was originally mahogany? but had been painted at some point in its long history, possible to preserve/consolidate the remaining inlay.
