The inlays are top half ivory, and bottom (whiter pieces) part bone with a similair pattern inscribed onto them. We thought that this was also done in India, as the original would probably have had just the black veneer. It may be that by the time this was done the Veneer was starting to ware. The inlays were not held in by glue but by tiny bamboo pins for the ivory and bone pins for the bottom part.
