Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Concertinas, Guitars, and Dismembered Limbs. Ca. 1856

I always used to get annoyed when I heard guitars in minstrel recordings. To me, it makes the music sound too "polished" and "clean". For years, I had the impression that guitars weren't even used, but upon further research of many sheet music covers, I found that, while not common, they were used. This is also the earliest print I know of that proves as evidence to concertinas in pre-1860 shows (I now feel slightly less pressured to have my flutinas restored).
