Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Here's another song from "Echoes from Dixie". The song was actually written in 1875 by Sam Lucas, who was an African-American songwriter/ minstrel performer. We had a good laugh over the lyrics.

Clarke Buehling does a real nice minor key version of Carve Dat Possum. Prior to hearing his, I was only aware of Uncle Dave Macon's major key rendering. Either way, it's a fun song. Too bad the Mrs. went to bed already, now I want to pick a while!
