Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I came across this today and was amused. All I know about Mr. Bessehl is that he was a St. Louis saloon keeper, but that's quite a cast of characters there.

Ha!  That's quite a dream!  Gen'l Sherman sure is getting into the bones as Grant looks on.... Wish I could see the numbers above their heads better.  "M. Thiers" (No. 7) - is that the Frenchman responsible for the 19th c. fortifications around Paris?

Thanks, Wes.  A veritable who's who of the latter part of the 19th century.... btw in answer to my own question, no. 7 is indeed Adolphe Thiers, French president in the 1870's.  (He's the little guy playing a horn next to Longfellow...)
