Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Pre ACW instrument ?

A friend now owns this banjo, and I told him that I would post some pics here to see what people think. I have not seen the banjo in person, and am sharing pictures and some descriptions provided by others.
The 11 ¼-inch diameter pot is handmade and originally had 10 brackets and hooks. It is half brass and half galvanized metal. The banjo has an American black cherry, fretless neck. Some unverified information suggests that the banjo may pre-date 1850.

What do people think......might this be a pre-ACW instrument ?

Oof! That looks like A PROJECT and a half. I really dig the the headstock & heel!!! Don't know if it's pre-war (in the minstrel sense), but it's pretty cool!!
