It looks pretty modern from the pics, but get up close and you can tell the building could have very well been built in the late 1870s-early 80s.
Of course, it was just a studio/shop and perhaps apartment (that is what it is now). There is evidence that the Dobsons did not make any banjos of their own. Jim Bollman showed me some elements on the closed back patent banjos that indicate good old Buckbee. And anyway, My "Dobson" is just that- a trade JHB with a stamp on the peghead.
Ian, what do you mean? I know the blue umbrella stands out, but it had been raining off and on ; )
