Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Could you all recommend where to start to get the feel of this type of banjo playing. I have only played the old "bumm-ditty" . DO you guys ever post instructional clips or which book should I start with. I see the Banjo CLubhouse has an old Frank Converse tutor on their web site would that be a good place to start? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tim Twiss has a video of several basic "motions" from the Briggs Banjo Instructor. That's a great place to start. Then get a copy of Centerstream's Briggs or Converse tutors in tab and start practicing. You can listen and see the tunes played from all the videos here. If you want to go hardcore learn from the original notation. Either way, you'll come out a winner.
Thankyou very much Where can I find those videos of basic moves? Sounds just like what I need.
The RED Pete Seeger Book !
