Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Go to an art supply store & get some artist's grade Drying Linseed Oil.  A small bottle will cost you about $8.  Put it on with a piece of rag.  A very small amount is best - not enough to still be damp in an hour or so.  Do another coat the next day & rub it in until it feels right.  If you are trying to add color to a maple neck, use artist's oil paint or dry pigment in the first coat.  This is what I (& most others) do on violin necks, both new & recently cleaned ones.
