Travels of F.B. Converse

This article, about Harriet Maxwell Converse, wife of Frank, says that the couple "travelled extensively in America, Europe, Asia and Africa" in the 1860's, and that Frank "made a study of unusual native musical instruments."

Frank's own account of their travels says that they had to come home from England without crossing over to the Continent because of Harriet's illness.  There are accounts of his ability to make music on various Native American instruments.

The article also says that she died of "uremic convulsions brought on by Bright's disease."  That I had not known; very interesting.  She died 3 months after Frank in a very depressed state.

I ran across this same article while researching the Tuscarora Indians of North Carolina who migrated north to New York State during the 18th century to become one of the " Six Nations" of the Iroquois Confederacy.
