That's awesome. You are surely only a breath away from selling total "kits", right?  ( Or perhaps you already do? )  All your components look fabulous.
By the way...I think our forum space should be FULL of this kind of stuff. It's a huge reason a lot of people come here.

I think that is a terrific idea, selling the unfinished pots. I have been carving away at necks but so far have been using old tambourines as pots... They work, but do not quite look as authentic and perhaps lose something, sound wise. I think steam bending a pot might be a stumbling block for many who would like to build but are not confident in or lack the equipment for mking their own pots. A great idea and very helpful for the person with limited woodworking equipment.

Thanks Bart & Tim. I have contemplated kits for a long time, but as long as folks keep ordering and special ordering banjos and parts from me, I really don't have time to put a kit together because my idea of a kit would be that all parts would perfectly fit together, that means making a whole banjo then tearing it down. I would like to offer a kit at a great price, but basically my idea of a kit would be a banjo without the finish (oil, shellac...etc.) and it would be close to the price of a finished one. It's those delicate final fittings that really make or break a banjo. A "Raw" kit may be something some people would like. It would be a rim without holes, a neck that needs heel shaping, and so on...the pegs would be installed though. It's difficult to test the popularity of a particular 'stage' of a kit. But the inspiration for my current rims comes from players here who are talking about making a banjo and believe me, making a 'wood circle' is quite a complcated process actually. So anyone who can get ahead on their project by using one of my rims is way ahead of the game. Mostly....I just like making them !!
