Thanks much, Paul: I think I should be able to follow this. How would G-Modal translate in early banjo tuning? G-Modal in clawhammer is gDGCD. Where would I go from the F#? To F?

Run the 2nd string up from F# to G, and run the 4th string up from G to A.  (dADGA)
