Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I posted 8 songs I composed while at my Artist-In-Residence Program in the Porcupine Mountains of Northern Michigan. I stayed in a rustic cabin for 2 weeks and wrote music in the style of 19th Century Stroke Style, inspired by the landscape of the park. If you have a chance, stop by my page and take a listen. See if (in your own opinion) I was able to capture the feel of stuff from the old Converse and Buckley Books. I tried to be true to what I feel is the essence of this music with no modern or fancy tricks to detract from the melodies and rhythms of that time. I also have the written transcriptions to all the music if you are so inclined to try any of them. "Nighttime Lament" would be an excellent beginner piece for those just starting out.

I really like them Tim. You've done a great job of capturing the style and charm of the era. Hopefully I'll get to trying them later this weekend.
