Event Description

Better than Tool Time. We'll be dusting off all those old nuggets. At Biggby Coffee in Hartland, MI. If you live in the mitten, come on down. Don't worry about the drive home. The hours are early....and after all, it is a coffee house....tank up on the brew.

This music has so many dimensions and possibilities of presentation. Mixed instruments, tune choices, playing the "fancy" banjo songs, involving nice part singing, utilizing creative rhythms and instruments (which the music BEGS for), different styles....the polkas, schottisches, waltzes etc.  inaddition to the usual plunky Briggs' style tunes.

Not to mention the variety of songs that are inclusive to this genre....Civil War songs, Foster songs, the crazy old stuff by Sweeney and the earliest Minstrels, The Minstrel playbills, the ballads and parlour songs, the fiddle repertoire. Big field of of stuff out there.

Thanks for the invitation Tim. Firstly, I am in Australia and secondly have just arrived home this week after being away for three months. By the time I heard about this event it was already over! Glad to be invited though and I trust that it was a great event. Every good wish, Norm.
