Here’s another video from the CW reenactment - “Aunt Phoebe’s Sticking Plaster”, set to the tune of “Pitch Burgundy Plaster” from Brigg’s tutor. I came upon the lyrics to this song a long time ago while we doing a black face show entitled “The Quack Doctor”. The song was used in the first act as part of the verbal jousting between the protagonist and the Quack Doctor. At the time I wasn’t real familiar with Briggs and hadn’t made the connection so I wasn’t sure what tune to play for it. The lyrics are of course, are over the top, and I posted them in a previous thread (http://minstrelbanjo.ning.com/forum/topics/aunt-jemima-s-plaster?commentId=2477478%3AComment%3A68159).

Camptown Shakers played at this reenactment this past weekend. Early Sunday morning my friend Rich Mendoza asked if he could record a few minutes of banjo music for the beginning of a video he was shooting of the event. I had literally just got my Bell banjo out of its wrappings and it was very cold and windy out (dry though!). My stiff fingers wouldn't cooperate with the first couple of jigs I tried to play. But I managed to get the Camptown Hornpipe followed by Alabama Joe. The video itself gives a great picture of what goes on at at mid-size Civil War reenactment. Oh, and Dan'l, spare the comments on anachronisms, I offer this for entertainment not necessarily edumaction. Dave
