This tune is related to a (transplanted) Irish-Canadian folksong called "The Maid of the Mountain Brow".
It's one of those tunes that supported several sets of words - probably including a set about "Mrs. Grundy". Here's a link to a decidedly old-school (i.e. early 60s) performance by the late Tom Kines. (on iTunes)
