Gumbo with Briggs and Rice

Tim--Yes, Mr. Weidlich modifies  the tune a little bit by simplifying the melody and inserting licks.  His arrangements feel and sound very natural if you are used to the standard fare from the Big Four--Buckley, Briggs, Rice, and Converse.
