When I first heard this week's challenge I was thinking of Campbell's Jig in Buckley for some reason, so I put them together. Both have their challenges...

Hey John...you went with a theme, eh? Pretty neat. Nice job on both of them.
I have a hard time distinguising the nuance of attack in your videos...is it the recording not really picking it up? How do you record yours?

Until recently I have been using a cheap mic. I recently bought a Samson USB mic bottom feeding on EBay. I don't have a boom, so I've been setting the mic on the floor in front of my feet. I'd like to get the mic closer to the banjo.

On this piece I was using a bunch of pulloffs and hammer-ons for the run, rather than stroking every note, so I'm not surprised that the attack isn't all that great.

John, you gotta splurge on a stand. You just can't get a good sound from the floor. You play too good to miss all that.
