Aren't they delightful? Often overlooked, but so cool. They all end up articulating an open string. The left hand "pulls" that note to the open string without being struck by the right hand.

You are so right that, those extra little notes accented...they just get me a little twisted up sometimes...I think I accidentally deleted my previous post, OOOPSY
