Can a date be placed on this manuscript?

Love the three takes on this tune. Musically, it seems like a real Afro-Celtic mash-up.

Maybe Al, but not from any information I have.

An approximate range is the best we can do regarding the date of this Emmett manuscript: 1845-1860. That dating is based mostly on the appearance in other period documents of a number of the tunes in the manuscript. Safe enough to call it "pre-Civil War." "Van Bramer's Jig" shares many characteristics with other tunes in the manuscript, and it is a good tune to work up for joint playing at AEBG because it will stretch the boundaries of your playing technique and your sense of what "period" music could be (it always reminds me of klezmer music).

I wish I could remember where I referenced Van Bramer's name. Playing with.....? Might have been in the Converse Rem.
