I thought we decided that D# was a misprint.  (I actually always liked it.)

What Carl and I are talking about here......is an error, which we went round and round about years ago. If you notice in the original, the key signature is 4 sharps....indicating E major. The next three lines have 3 sharps...indicating a major. This has great effect upon that very first phrase with the D#. Joe Ayers played it literally on his recording, but it is obviously a typo. SO......tabbers beware...it is good to investigate the original source.

Make my "4" a "3"

It is how I played it......also cross reference any other version of this tune. That is the way you check it.
