This is how I play it. Pretty much lifted from the Shakers.
I've gone through as many original copies of the sheet music as I could find trying to tab this is a way which sounded correct. The Shaker version is the one which really sets the bar. I look at what you've tabbed, Tim, and it doesn't look like anything I've tried. Maybe that's why I've tabbed it, tried to play it, hated it, chucked it and repeated the process in different keys many times.
Your version looks different. Looking forward to giving it a go.
I'm sure I'll hear a comment that high bass would have worked better. It might, but I rarely tune up to do that. Also, the note "3" on 1st string M9 and M11 sound good as a chord. (with 1st on 2nd string and 2nd on 3rd string)
You rock Tim! Thank you.
So let me know how the arrangement works out for you...Silas and Nicholas.
Thanks for the Tab. I have the song in my head and when I hear you do your version it sounds very cool. First wasn't sure which tuning the dCDF#A or eAEG#B your in the rice tuning right? It sounds right. Going to be working on it today.
As I sew a frock for Shiloh and curse the amount of detail which goes into a double breasted frock, my poor banjo sits lonely in a corner. Might give it some love today. Although I'm not playing very much these days, I have been getting the lyrics firmed in my head for when I do return to regular playing. My brain misplaces only a couple stanzas in that rather long song.
