I just finished reading Hans Nathan's book on Dan Emmett, which has a chapter on "Dixie."  This version published by Baldwin in 1905 has most of the early lyrics, but verse 5 here is really 2 different verses condensed into one, and "stony batter" has become "Injun batter".

Actually, verses 4 and 5 are not condensed, but just rearranged, compared with the older manuscript in Nathan's book.
