Test piece comparisons

Here are some test strips of hard maple I experimented with prior to deciding on the finish. On the left: two applications of "rusty water". On the right: 2 applications of rusty water, 1 of linseed oil, 5 of amber shellac. I took steel wool lightly in between the last few coats of shellac. Didn't do the rotten stone.
