Someone mentiioned "Kemo, Kimo" or "Kimo Kemo" or whatever in one of the threads the other day (can't seem to find it). Anyway, here's an early slip ballad (or broadside or penny ballad) for the song. It's one of my favorites, especially the great Chubby Parker version "King Kong Kitchie Kitchie Kimeo" on the Folkways Anthology of American Folk Music. Great banjo playing, great singing, mysterious musician...

A great dumb song that you can't help but love. I'm with you on Chubby Parker! The tune of this classic turns up in an old Ontario fiddler's manuscript from the mid 1800s as part of a set of N----Quadrilles. He called it "Polly Won't you try Me Oh" which scans the same Kitchie Kitchie Kimee O.
