Hi Grace, I believe there is quite a thriving Banjo Community in the UK but I don't know enough about it to say what styles they play... I myself like the 5 string finger style. A couple of people I know play 4 string plectrum, but I just don't feel comfortable using a plectrum. I am still trying the very easy pieces from a couple of tutor books and won't be anything like good enough to join in with any banjo group for a while yet. Hopefully next year I will be able to go to some of the rallys that they have over here. Liked your photo from Harpers Ferry.

    Hi Grace,
I have been looking at and thinking of buying the" Briggs Banjo Instructor" reprint on the "Elderly"site, it dosn't have tab and I am using Tab for Banjo because I find it qicker to read than notation, but I still like to see the notation above and Joseph Weidlich is Tab only. So big decisions, do I buy the Briggs and Tab it myself, or buy the Weidlich and forgo the notation. Think I might sleep on that one.
It seem that there is to be a Banjo Festival over here in October so I might try and get to that one.

Hi Grace, I think you are right, I will go for the reprints with the music notation. Have just looked at Bob Winans site and think I may go for the Rice and Buckley books first and then later get the Briggs.
Thank you for your kind offer of some of the music. Myemail address is sbemby@talktalk.net but if you have any problems sending it, don't worry, I have quite a bit to be going on with, I am trying to memorise Spanish Fandango at the moment. I think it was Tim who played it on the video and I liked it.
