Carver Kits

Carver kits, with jaw bone and bones :)

yeah deff not historically accurate but they do play nicely, are well priced and are perfect for trails and hikes and beach camping and such due to their size. I chose to use nylgut strings instead of the nylon ones they come with so I can play converse tuning but with some adjustments to nut and swapping around/making a few new bridges and a clunky new tail piece for the gourd I ended up with two decent lil playable banjos that I don't mind letting people play/learn on. I taught a friend juba and we've since been workin on corn shuckin jig (gateway tunes haha)

The classic kit is a lil higher pitched and twangy and the gourd is nice and ... well, gourdy

They are available at his website: http://carverbanjos.com/ and on ebay but i just email him and save a few bucks. he's a younger guy and I think it's a cool idea. He also build regular banjos too. I believe the kits are so cheap because the wood is layers of hardwood plywood glued together or something like that. You get what ya pay for tho.
