Tune of the Week

Is anyone interested in doing some sort of "Tune of the Week" idea? Either to introduce new material, revisit a standard......let people post interpretations...or provide an instructional tutor? Toss out some ideas. It should be inclusive so people do not have to feel like they have to post anything, but could benefit from it somehow. We could explore some easy but uncommon material...or hit on the standards.

Jay Unger has a version, he calls it President Lincoln's you can listen to it on Itunes. He does it as kind of of a strasthspey with a Scotch snap thrown in here and there. I think i heard a recording of Rodney Miller playing it as a fast hornpipe for contra dancing but I can't find a copy. It will be interesting to see how folks will interpret this. It's also in the New England Fiddler's Repertoire

"President Garfield's Hornpipe" is on Rodney Miller's "Castles in the Air" album, and has always been one of my favorites. "President Garfield's.." is good, too. They are both on the same page in Ryan's (137) and were both attributed to Harry Carleton. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Carleton.
